Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a powerful speech outlining her vision for the nation.
Chicago, IL Following the conclusion of the Democratic National Convention, National Security Leaders for America (NSL4A) Founder and President, retired Rear Admiral Mike Smith issued the following statement in response to Vice President Kamala Harris accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States:
Tonight, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a powerful vision for our nation—a future that honors our Constitution, strengthens our republic, and renews our commitment to justice, safety, and security for all Americans.
Kamala Harris’s entire career has focused on upholding America’s core principles. Her experience as a prosecutor has prepared her to lead with empathy and focus, and her accomplishments as a Senator and Vice President demonstrate the commitment to bipartisanship and keen intellect required to address America’s most challenging issues. She will be a unifying voice at home and a formidable leader on the global stage.
In contrast, Donald Trump would divide our society and weaken America’s place in the world. His admiration for autocrats like Vladimir Putin – who attacks his own citizens’ liberties and assassinates his political adversaries – has inspired Trump’s ambitions. With the support of enablers and sycophants, he will execute the policies of Project 2025, imposing its disturbing agenda to centralize power, dismantle democratic institutions, and undermine the rule of law.”
The stakes in this election could not be higher. Donald Trump will alienate our allies and cozy up to dictators. He will attempt to use the military to go house-to-house to deport millions of immigrants and trample on our civil liberties. This is not the America we know or the America we want for our children.
The American people need a leader who will defend our Constitution, preserve our democratic institutions, and stand up to the forces of authoritarianism. We need a leader who will put country over party and work across the aisle to build a better future and lives for all Americans. Kamala Harris is that leader.
