Promote the Interests of National Security and Democratic Governance

NSL4A is dedicated to strengthening democracy and U.S. security by educating the public, advising policy-makers, and engaging the news media.

NSL4A Member Policy Expertise Includes:

  • National Security

    This includes national defense and military operations, homeland security, national intelligence, and law enforcement.

  • Foreign Policy

    This includes international relations, diplomacy, international alliances, trade and economic security,

  • Democratic Governance

    This includes constitutional rights, individual freedom, rule of law, and election integrity.

  • Other Policy Expertise

    This includes education, public health, energy, and climate change

  • NSL4A raises public awareness of national security and democratic governance through events, reports, and educational programs.

    When warranted, NSL4A issues public statements on events and policies that are detrimental to national security and democratic governance.

    It also provides professional development opportunities for retired and former members of the military and civil service as well as young professionals through paid and unpaid internships.

  • NSL4A members provide nonpartisan expertise to policymakers and other stakeholders on defense, foreign policy, and governance issues to inform sound decision-making.

  • NSL4A amplifies credible, experienced voices to promote fact-based, democratic discourse.

    Members are available for interviews and commentary and offer their perspective in opinion and analysis articles.
