Sovereignty, Reverence for Law And Where We Find Ourselves

Lt. Gen. Charles D. Luckey, USA (Ret) The Pilot April 12, 2025

Gen. Douglas McArthur once counseled, “The history of failure in war can almost be summed up in two words: Too late. Too late in comprehending the deadly purpose of a potential enemy. Too late in realizing the mortal danger. Too late in preparedness. Too late in uniting all possible forces for resistance.”

Arguably, the same can be said about life. Sometimes we have to look again to see an emerging and problematic pattern before it becomes a fait accompli.

Now might be a splendid time for us all to take stock of the array of challenges to the rule of law and to assess the potential implications of what is becoming a sustained campaign against it, waged in plain sight.

Starting with the president’s reference to Judge James Boasberg as a “radical left lunatic” during a presentation regarding the Air Force’s next generation fighter on March 21 and working our way outward, there is a constitutional showdown swimming into view.
