is deeply concerned by the United States’ military operations on Venezuelan territory, including strikes,  the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and subsequent statements from the Administration outlining the scope and intent of U.S. involvement. While President Maduro undermined democracy in his own country and caused immense suffering among the Venezuelan people, his forcible removal without Congressional authority undermines our own Constitution and risks plunging the U.S. into a war without a clear objective, strategy, or exit plan.

NSL4A remains concerned by conflicting public accounts regarding the September 2, 2025, follow-on strike and urges Congress to continue its investigation of that incident and the overall conduct of Operation Southern Spear to ensure meaningful public accountability.

NSL4A condemns reporting that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordered the killing of defenseless survivors during a September 2nd operation, calling the actions potential violations of U.S. and international law and urging Congress to swiftly investigate and ensure accountability.
