(OpEd) Bruce Heyman and Richard Sanders | 19FortyFive
As Americans celebrate Memorial Day, it’s essential to remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for the country’s freedom. This year’s Memorial Day also marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, highlighting the critical role of Allied forces in World War II. The shared sacrifices of American, British, Canadian, and other Allied troops emphasize the importance of strong international alliances.

Army spouse: Trump’s callous insult of military not forgotten this Memorial Day
(OpEd) Rebekah Sanderlin | Rebekah Sanderlin | Fayetteville Observer, USA Today, Apple News Spotlight
How did we get to a place where mocking our nation’s war dead is not an immediate disqualifier for a Commander in Chief? Why would any young person agree to wear a military uniform knowing that even their President does not honor their service? And why would anyone who has served in our military ever forgive Donald Trump for denigrating their brothers who were killed in action?

Donald Trump Doesn't Have What It Takes to Be President
(OpEd) Rear Admiral Mitchell Cohen | The National Interest

What's in it for them?
(OpEd) Senior Chief Petty Officer Denis Kaufman | The Sentinel (Carlisle, PA)
On this Memorial Day, as in previous years, I will think of Edward Ball and others in my family who perished serving our country: a great-uncle killed in France in 1918, a second cousin killed on Saipan in 1944, and friends and shipmates lost in Vietnam. They deserve to be remembered. We owe it to them, our “honored dead,” to preserve the nation for which they died. Our service members died for their comrades, for their families, and for their country so that its government and the ideals for which it stands can long endure.

(OpEd) Hans Binnendijk and Alexander Vershbow with R.D. Hooker | Foreign Affairs

Trump will jack up your food bill
(OpEd) Stephen Craven | CNN
If Trump is telling the truth about his policies, his claim that he will tame inflation is simply wrong. He will do exactly the opposite.

Trump’s tariff plan would hurt America’s taxpayers and national security
(OpEd) Colonel Gene Abel | The Morning Call
Trump’s proposal would increase prices for every segment of the American economy. In effect, this would be a tax increase on every American without lowering the deficit. As the center-right American Action Forum found, such a tariff would “distort global trade, discourage economic activity, and have broad negative consequences for the U.S. economy.”

Cubans should vote for Democrats, not Republicans
(OpEd) CARLOS MARTINEZ | El Nuevo Herald
The Republican Party continues to support Trump. In reality, the American Republican Party has changed so much that it is almost unrecognizable. It is no longer the party that my parents supported and that I supported most of my life.
And, since I know that Cubans are not stupid, I swear to all Cubans to abandon their usual loyalty to the Republican party and

Tunisia holds valuable lessons for us all as democracy stumbles
(OpEd) Ambassador Gordon Gray | The Washington Diplomat
The United States needs to stand up to authoritarianism by seeking to counter leaders and governments engaged in democratic backsliding. Tunisia, where I had the privilege to serve as the U.S. ambassador during its revolution and the initial stages of its democratic transition, offers an excellent opportunity for the Biden administration to take steps to back up its rhetorical commitment to democracy.

Donald Trump Can't Save Social Security
